Abdeslam: “Didn’t kill anyone”

Abdeslam: “Didn’t kill anyone”

“I didn’t kill anyone, I didn’t hurt anyone.” Salah Abdeslam, the main defendant in the trial for the devastating terrorist attacks in Paris in 2015, said in court yesterday. The 32-year-old is believed to be the only surviving member of a radical Islamic group that carried out the attacks that killed 130 people.

Abdeslam stated that he supports and loves the Islamic State (IS), which he had acknowledged at the beginning of the trial. At the time, IS claimed responsibility for the attacks in retaliation for France’s involvement in the fight against the radical Islamic group in Syria and Iraq.

On the night of November 13-14, 2015, extremists killed 130 people and injured hundreds. They massacred the Bataclan concert hall, firing on guests in six bars and restaurants. A suicide bomber blew himself up in front of the Stade de France football stadium, where France was playing Germany.

The attacks left deep scars on the French. In September 2021, almost six years after the devastating series of attacks, the trial of 20 suspects began under tight security. The main defendant, Abdeslam, is Franco-Moroccan. He has already been convicted in Belgium.

It was his first interrogation in Paris. In September 2021, Abdeslam had already spoken out and defended the bloodbath even then. “We attacked France, we targeted the population, civilians, but personally we have nothing against them,” he said.
