The man at the State Court of Klagenfurt took 16 instead of 18 months, the woman is absolutely due to eight months instead of twelve months. The judgments were initially not final.
In the summer of 2024 the man worked as a running boy for criminals. They had contacted a pensioner by phone and applied the “police trick”. The man was informed that his valuables were no longer safe. Therefore, a policeman will come over and take them with them for custody. The 28-year-old then led her 31-year-old partner to the pensioner’s apartment, where coins were picked up worth 70,000 euros. In a hotel they were then handed over to the backers, the 31-year-old was paid at 3,000 euros.

Police waited for the second attempt
A few weeks later, the 31-year-old was sent to another victim, where he was to pick up prey worth 60,000 euros. There, however, the police were already waiting for the man who was arrested after a short persecution. At the State Court of Klagenfurt, the process finally occurred: the 31-year-old expired for 18 months, the 28-year-old for twelve months absolutely.
The judgments also became final – however, the next instance found a blurring. The defendants had been convicted of serious fraud, but with the addition that they had pretended to be officials. In fact, the accused themselves had not done this, but only the still unknown backers who had made the phone calls. So the cause wandered back to Klagenfurt, where the now convicted in front of a lay judge, chaired by judge Michaela Sanin, had to take a seat.
Penalties reduced
After a short negotiation, the renewed judgment fell again: it was again on severe fraud with a amount of damage of more than 5,000 euros – but without the addition that they had pretended to be a police officer. This did not change the penalty of up to three years in prison. The 31-year-old’s punishment was reduced by two months due to the long period of proceedings. In the case of the 28-year-old, who had come to the process with her adult representative. In the meantime, there had been indications of a “greatly reduced accountability” of the woman – the unconditional prison sentence was not only reduced, but also completely converted into a conditional. Both accepted the judgments, prosecutor Nicola Trinker made no explanation.
