The well -known ski resort of Zermatt is cut off from the outside world and affected by power failures, said a representative of the tourist office. 55 centimeters of fresh snow were measured there. There were even 100 centimeters on the mountain pass large St. Bernhard.
Schools stay too
For security reasons, the Valais cantonal capital Sitten was closed to all car and pedestrian traffic. The population was asked to stay at home after trees overturned because of the snowfall. The canton’s schools were closed on Thursday. Snow and rainfall also disabled rail traffic in parts of the canton of Bern.
