It is a step that many have expected in the party: Lawog director Frank Schneider foregoes a candidacy for the vacant chair of the Landes-SPÖ. The 64-year-old even goes one step further: he actively supports Martin Winkler’s candidacy.
As reported, the latter announced on Thursday that he will face the election as the state party leader. Winkler also wants to follow Michael Lindner as a state council.

The financial and management consultant is the favorite of interim chief Alois Stöger, who coordinates the successor searches. Yesterday, numerous well -known comrades winkler strengthened his back and secured him support.
Schneider had criticized Stögers and brought himself into play for a candidacy as a party leader. Now he says that he is convinced that Winkler will set the right priorities for Upper Austria. “The SPÖ must and will give Martin Winkler clear answers to the current economic problems in the state of Upper Austria industrial country. Apart from that: Our joint focus must be on the state election 2027 – and not on internal self -employment. That is why I support Martin Winkler from my heart.”

Schneider announced that he wanted to bring his many years of expertise in the field of living and social infrastructure in Winkler’s team.
This in turn is happy about Schneider’s support and future cooperation: “Frank Schneider is a proven specialist in social residential construction – with a ground liability and decades of social democratic commitment.”
The “new story” of the SPÖ is thus continued. After the party internal criticism of the search process, the comrades endeavor to demonstrate unity.
