From the egg to the Easter bunny to the popular “Halleluja snack”: Over the centuries, many customs and symbols have developed around Easter, some of which-sometimes in a different form-are still lived today.
For example, the origin of the food blessing goes back to the seventh century. Easter bread, ham, Easter eggs, Kren, salt and herbs are located in the baskets that are blessed in Easter Liturgy on Holy Saturday. Then they are eaten at the Easter snack or “Halleluja snack”.
