The Vatican published the first images of Pope Francis in his coffin in the chapel of Santa Marta

The pontiff who died on Monday at age 88 is already in his coffin in the chapel of the Santa Marta residence, according to the Vatican. The cardinals are already in Rome to start the first congregation.

The Pope rests on a red velvet lined wood with a purple casulla and a white miter and in his hands carries a rosary.

The images belong to the time of hiring death this Monday at 8:00 p.m. (18.00 GMT) and many of the cardinals present in Rome are observed, who went to the chapel, in addition to being surrounded by their collaborators.

Cardinals Meeting in the First Congregation
