The man is said to have attacked his wife in August 2021 in Klosterneuburg (Tulln district) with a knife and hit him with his crutch. According to the court, the guilty verdict is already final.
The scene of the bloody deed on the evening of August 28, 2021 was an apartment building in the Klosterneuburg cadastral community of Kierling. The accused Pakistani citizen is said to have stabbed his then 65-year-old spouse twice in the back with a kitchen knife with a twelve-centimeter blade.
The man was arrested at the scene of the crime by officers from the Klosterneuburg police station. The seriously injured victim was taken to a Vienna hospital. There was a temporary danger to life.
According to court spokesman Wolfgang Schuster-Kramer, the normal lifestyle of the 63-year-old was a mitigating factor when the sentence was assessed on Thursday. Added to this was the present confession and the fact that it was an attempt. It was considered aggravating that the act was directed against the wife and a weapon was used.
