It does not happen every day that a new bridge will be opened. The hundreds of visitors showed from Wels to Schleißheim yesterday at the opening of the new “Römerbrücke”. After the traffic was released last week, the growing together of the two Traunufer was celebrated.
On the 40 -meter -long and 4.5 meter wide wooden structure, there was no getting through yesterday: Numerous people wanted to use the new way for the first time to cross the Traun and enjoy the view from the two viewing platforms. The city of Wels made the occasion for a family party: the members of “Legion 15”, who reproduce a Roman legion as faithfully as possible, were available in full equipment for photos. Bouncy castle, face painting and an archery site offered additional entertainment, and the playground on the Welser Traunufer was also used lively. Meals were also taken care of. The rudder club Wels provided exciting scenes on the water.
