Pope Francis’s coffin arrived at the Basilica of San Pedro, where a crowd will give him his last goodbye

This Wednesday the public farewell to Pope Francis began in the Vatican. Thousands of faithful around the world will approach the Basilica of San Pedro to participate in the wake that will run until Saturday 26 when the official funeral takes place.

The access schedules that spread the Vatican are the following:

Wednesday, April 23: 11 to 24, Italy time

Thursday April 24: 7 to 24, Italy time

Friday, April 25: From 7 to 19, Italy time

The funeral is scheduled for Saturday morning in the Plaza de San Pedro and will be directed by the dean of the Cardenalicio College, Giovanni Battista Re, 91. At least 200,000 people are expected to attend the funeral, as stated by the Head of the Italian Civil Protection Agency, Fabio Ciciliano, to the newspaper Corriere Della Sera.
