A spokeswoman said on Thursday. The two park rangers came across two ski tourers in a protection zone near Zelezna Ruda (Markt Eisenstein). When they wanted to record their personal details, they were reportedly beaten up. They were able to make an emergency call and were taken to the hospital by the mountain rescue service.
In the protected area Kralovsky hvozd (Royal Forest) visitors are only allowed to move on the marked paths. However, many ski tourers would not stick to that, criticized a spokesman for the national park administration.
In general, the area, around 60 kilometers from the Austrian border, is also popular with visitors from Germany and Austria. The Bohemian Forest (Sumava) National Park borders directly on the Bavarian Forest. The national park, founded in 1991, covers an area of around 680 square kilometers.
