“We found 28 horses in very bad condition,” says the Freistadt animal shelter at the request of the OÖNachrichten. “For some it was probably a rescue at the last minute, the horses were so emaciated. Many have serious injuries.” Dozens of employees of the animal shelter and the Freistadt animal rescue center have been on duty since Tuesday last week to supply the horses found in a courtyard in the Freistadt district.
“Everything has grown over the head for the owner,” says the shelter. The volunteers worked almost without a break over the Easter holidays. “The horses had to be removed first. We have boxed in no time and organized everything for transport,” says an employee of the shelter who has been involved in the rescue since the first day.
