According to the police, the cause of the accident was a 60-year-old from Linz, who may have lost his bearings near Plus City. At around 3 p.m., coming from the shopping center, he drove up the ramp to the B139 in the opposite direction of travel and almost touched an oncoming car.
When he noticed the mistake, he crossed the restricted line again to get onto the regular lane in the direction of Traun. At first he continued his journey, but suddenly turned left at the beginning of the acceleration lane over a blocked line onto the B 139 in order to be able to continue in the direction of Linz.
When turning, he collided with the car of a 51-year-old who was traveling on the B139 in the direction of Traun. Despite emergency braking, the 51-year-old hit the left side of the 60-year-old’s vehicle head-on. Due to the force of the impact, a car was thrown onto the opposite embankment, and the second car came to a standstill in the middle of the lane. Both drivers were injured and taken to hospitals. A detour has been set up for the duration of the clean-up work.
