Police investigate whether Bolsonaro used digital militias to spread false news

According to these investigations, the so-called “digital militias” would have acted systematically in favor of Bolsonaro by spreading false information, attacking state institutions and questioning the electoral system and electronic ballot boxes.

The far-right president has already launched a crusade in recent months in that direction after appearing far behind his leftist predecessor Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in polls of voting intentions for the crucial elections on October 2.

On this occasion, the Police took as an example another of the cases that Bolsonaro is dragging, in which he was singled out for disseminating confidential information from an investigation through social networks to question the solidity of the TSE and thus give wings to those militias to spread false information, revealed the newspaper O Globo and reproduced the Europa Press news agency.

Already at the opening ceremony of the TSE last week, the head of the body, Judge Luís Roberto Barroso, once again raised the alleged similarity between the way these militias proceed and that of Bolsonaro, who would have helped the hackers revealing not only classified information, but encouraging them to attack their teams.

On August 4, during one of his weekly interventions through social networks, Bolsonaro fully revealed the content of the PF investigation into a computer attack on TSE systems.

Although it did not pose a risk to the normal functioning of the 2018 elections, he used that case to question the electoral system and the electronic ballot boxes.
