Pope Francis was buried after the great funeral ceremony at St. Peter’s Square on Sunday afternoon as part of a private ceremony in the Marienkirche. “With his arrival at the basilica Santa Maria Maggiore, the last trip of our beloved holy father Francis has ended,” said Cardinal Rolandas Makrickas, arch priest from the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, at the beginning of the rosary prayer on Saturday evening in the Marienkirche.

“The Pope went between two wings of believers who had the last honor and wanted to express their whole affection. In our hearts we preserve the memory of its fertile work in the church and for the church. The church he loved and which he served to his last breath,” emphasized the cardinal.
