Around 7:20 p.m. there was a fire in the guest kitchen for an unknown cause. Due to the smoke development, the house residents who live on the ground floor or on the first floor became aware of the fire. The 63-year-old resident and his 34-year-old son then began to extinguish the fire with two fire extinguishers. The two were able to contain the fire so far that there were no more flames than the emergency services of the three fire departments (FF Sankt Thomas, FF Sankt Marienkirchen/ Polsenz and FF Grieskirchen). With the help of a thermal imaging camera, however, it was found that the flames had previously triggered a glow fire in the Rigipscover.

The fire brigade tore down parts of the ceiling in order to be able to specifically combat the heating earth. According to the 34-year-old, the guest kitchen has not been used for some time, only the dishwasher was occasionally used. Although he was on the top floor with his children that day, the kitchen was not used. The 63-year-old and the 34-year-old were then admitted to the Clinic Wels with suspected smoke gas poisoning.
The fire department’s head of operations assumes that the fire broke out in the area of the stove, attacked the flames from there onto the roof and thus triggered a glow fire. Parts of the attic were significantly damaged by the fire. The fire brigade reported “fire from” at 8:15 p.m.
