The Nash TV channel was disconnected from the satellite, cable networks and all digital platforms in advance, even before the signing and publication of the decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. This was announced on Friday, February 11, by the former deputy of the Rada and the founder of the Nash TV channel Evgeny Muraev.
“The decision was made before the meeting. The channel was disconnected from satellite, cable networks and all digital platforms immediately after the decision, even before the presidential decree was signed and published. These are not sanctions, this is a crime. There will be a verdict,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
Muraev also denied all accusations about the TV channel’s ties to offshore companies.
“Companies that have licenses have nothing to do with Cyprus. These are purely Ukrainian companies with founders who are employees of the channel,” Muraev said.
Earlier that day, on February 11, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine imposed five-year sanctions against Nasha Praga, Our 24, Our 365 and Cyprus-registered Demosena Investments Ltd. Against the backdrop of sanctions pressure, Muraev announced the start of indefinite protests from February 14.
As NSDC Secretary Aleksey Danilov noted, the restrictions were introduced due to the connection of the channel with offshore companies in Cyprus. Later, a decree of the President of Ukraine on the introduction of sanctions was published. Nash TV channel continues broadcasting only on YouTube video hosting.
The Nash TV channel belonged to the family of the politician Muraev, who was a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada in 2012-2019. In 2012, he was elected from the Party of Regions, and in 2014 from the Opposition Bloc party. Last year, Muraev handed over the management of the channel to his employees.
