“Now we have to prove unity, because we face major challenges: competitiveness has to be strengthened, bureaucracy has to be dismantled, progress in energy sovereignty has been made and Europe’s sovereignty is guaranteed,” continued Stocker. Not least through Austria’s commitment, a consistent path had been taken on the migration question, which had led to the first success and had to be continued. “In times like this we have to stick to the partnership with our European allies and further deepen them,” said Stocker. Cooperation is the key to “jointly finding solutions for a strong and resilient future”.
Babler confirms use for common values
SPÖ boss Vice Chancellor Andreas Babler and the SPÖ European spokeswoman Pia Maria Wiinger emphasized that peace and unity in Europe were not a matter of course, but would have to be worked hard. “The united Europe has made us and our continent more, more resistant and fairer,” emphasized Babler.
“The European Union and our commitment to democracy and human rights, for safe jobs and tax justice are now – in times of wars and crises – as important as never before,” says Babler, who warns of global authoritarian currents, the division of our society and attacks on the rule of law and freedom of the press. “Trump’s unpredictable policy, Putin’s war war against Ukraine and the rage of destruction of the right-wing populists in Europe warn and, together with our European partners, decide to stand up for our common Europe and our values, to protect fundamental rights and to strengthen social cohesion,” said the SPÖ boss.
