Macron plans to have a telephone conversation with Putin on February 12

French President Emmanuel Macron plans to have a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Saturday, February 12. On Friday, February 11, reports Agence France-Presse (AFP), referring to the Elysee Palace.

The conversation is scheduled to take place around noon Paris time (14:00 Moscow time).

Earlier, on February 10, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron could take place in the very near future.

Face-to-face talks between Putin and Macron took place on Monday, February 7, in the Kremlin. The conversation between the two leaders lasted more than five hours. Meeting his French colleague, Putin noted that he had not seen Macron in person for two years, so many issues have accumulated that can and should be discussed in a direct format. The French leader noted that a dialogue with Russia is necessary as the only way to ensure real stability and security for the European continent.

During the final press conference, Putin stressed that statements about the aggression of the Russian Federation “at least do not correspond to sound logic.” He also pointed out that the further expansion of NATO to the borders of the Russian Federation poses a threat, and in the event of a military conflict between Russia and the alliance, there will be no winners. In addition, the Russian leader called on Ukraine to comply with the Minsk agreements. He stressed that there is no alternative to these agreements.
