Diplomatic workers and employees of Russian consulates began to leave Ukraine. This was reported on February 12 by RIA Novosti with reference to the statement of the Ukrainians.
In the country, according to them, difficulties began with making an appointment with the Russian diplomatic departments, whose employees are leaving the country en masse.
“Against the background of the evacuation officially announced by a number of Western countries, this suggests that Moscow has decided to go the same way,” the agency’s sources noted.
As he recalled, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov hinted at the possibility of such a scenario during a press conference following negotiations with his British counterpart Elizabeth Truss.
The Russian Embassy in Kiev is working normally, a decision on partial evacuation has not yet been made, but the issue is being worked out by the Foreign Ministry, press attaché of the diplomatic mission Denis Golenko said earlier.
Earlier, on Saturday, it became known about the US plans to evacuate the staff of the embassy in Kiev. According to the State Department’s plan, all US embassy staff would be required to leave the country in anticipation of a “Russian invasion.”
The department declined to comment on this information.
On February 11, the representative of the UN Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, announced that the organization’s presence in this country was maintained, and no evacuation of employees was planned.
On January 30, the United States called on its citizens to leave Ukraine. Then the State Department clarified the possible routes for the evacuation of citizens: through Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova.

On January 25, Canada decided to withdraw the families of diplomatic workers from Ukraine amid “destabilizing activities” in and around the country.
Western politicians and media representatives continue to spread numerous speculations about possible Russian aggression against Ukraine. The Russian side has repeatedly refuted such statements, emphasizing that it has no plans to invade a neighboring country.
On February 11, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented examples of publications in the Western media, which, as part of a large-scale disinformation campaign, contribute to the spread of the thesis about “Russia’s impending invasion of Ukraine.”
Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov noted that Washington continues to “show off”, accusing Russia of preparing an attack on Kiev during the winter Olympics in Beijing. Even local observers note a sharp decline in the confidence of American citizens in such allegations, the diplomat added.
