When officers got there just after midnight, the front door was locked. At least 50 guests were still present. The policemen were ignored at all, the door remained locked. After 20 minutes, the police left again. Ads were announced on Saturday.
After an anonymous complaint of disregard for the curfew, the officers drove to the nightclub. At 12:20 a.m., at least 50 people with drinks were still visible at their seats through the glass lights of the front door. A man in the room who was apparently working as security demonstratively turned his back on the police waiting in front of the door and only loudly informed the others that “the cops” are there, the police reported.
Police waited in front of closed doors
The people working behind the bar, who occasionally looked towards the entrance door due to the repeated calls from security, ignored the presence of the intervening officers and did not open the door. The police stayed in front of the bar for 20 minutes. During this time, some bar visitors were guided out of the hotel through various exits. At 12:40 a.m., the police left, at which point there were still numerous guests with their glasses in their seats.
A spokeswoman for the Salzburg police justified the fact that the police had not gained access with “proportionality”. Since it was only an administrative offense, suitable measures had to be carefully considered. In addition, the bar owner is known and can therefore be displayed accordingly. According to the currently valid Covid Measures Ordinance, bars may only be open until midnight.
