The purpose of the West’s hysterical fit over the so-called Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 16 is to provoke and escalate the situation. This was announced on Saturday, February 12, by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
“[Относиться к этому следует] just like hysteria. What is the purpose of this hysteria – escalating the situation and, of course, provocative activity. This is part of the international reach of the provocation,” Zakharova said on the Soloviev Live YouTube channel, calling the hysteria seizures.
According to her, the provocation began a long time ago and lay on the fertile soil of the long-term Ukrainian conflict, which is “actively run by the United States.” Zakharova clarified that the information situation has been brought to the limit, but Kiev pretends that it is not involved in this. According to the publication, Washington spoke about possible missile strikes and cyber attacks from Russia before the “invasion”.
Earlier on the same day, February 12, talks were held between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the American leader. The conversation took place against the backdrop of US statements about a possible invasion of Ukraine as early as next week during the Beijing Olympics. Thus, the assistant to the head of state, Yuri Ushakov, noted that the conversation between Putin and Biden took place in an atmosphere of whipping up hysteria about the allegedly imminent “Russian attack on Ukraine.” According to him, the nature of the negotiations was businesslike.
