“Blech” to speed skater Herzog

Like four years ago in Pyeongchang, the 26-year-old finished fourth, the Carinthian by choice was 7/100 seconds missing on precious metal – in 2018 it was 17/100. The American Erin Jackson won gold in 37.04 seconds ahead of the Japanese Miho Takagi (+0.08 seconds), the Russian Angelina Golikova (0.17) secured the bronze.

Herzog clocked a time of 37.28 seconds on her parade route, 24/100 slower than Jackson. Austria’s Sportswoman of the Year 2019 started in the fourth run with Takagi, who after silver over 1,500 m also won over 500 m. Herzog, who had to struggle with two herniated discs during her preparations for the Olympics, is still completing the 1,000 m (Thursday) and mass start (Saturday) events in Beijing. Gabriel Odor is in the men’s mass start (Saturday).
