The German airline Lufthansa is closely monitoring the situation around Ukraine, the issue of stopping flights is being considered, but no decision has been made yet. This was announced on Sunday, February 13, a representative of the company.
“Lufthansa is following the situation in Ukraine very closely. The suspension of air traffic is being considered, but at the moment no decisions have been made on this matter, ”he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Earlier in the day, Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian leader’s presidential office, said Ukraine sees no point in closing its airspace. At the same time, on the same day, the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure added that the state is working to prevent risks for air carriers, and the sky over the country is open.
On February 12, it was reported that the sky of Ukraine from February 14 may be closed for air traffic. The reason will be the decision of Western insurance companies to withdraw guarantees for flights over the country.
So, already on Sunday, a SkyUP passenger plane, flying from Funchal to Kiev, made an emergency landing in Chisinau due to the leasing company’s ban on the liner entering the airspace of Ukraine.
