For one and a half days, the historical walls of the former production facility for cigarettes were in the sign of positive future images. In a world in crisis mode, the common threatens to be lost. Fear, uncertainty and the supposed feeling of knowing exactly who is responsible for this are as a breeding ground for mutual hatred and blame. That must and must not be. “The future is what we all make of it,” said organizer Katharina Ehrenmüller. Therefore, every person should be clear that they can make a contribution and design something.
The festival, which is to take place every two years from now on, aimed at 130 program items that could be consumed free of charge on the fact that people come together who cultivate their curiosity together and simply activate their desire for the future, as Ehrenmüller formulated.
The idea for the festival came about during the strategy consulting for Linz Tourism, which is known to prescribe curiosity as a drive spring in its new advertising strategy. This applies both inside and out. If you are curious about Linz, you will be able to get to know the city as a guest as a local one – that is the message.
Diversity to look at
In this environment, another remarkable initiative also found its place. The multimedia exhibition “Bilder.morgen” presented itself to the public for the first time at the “Festival of Curiosity”. With pictures and videos, visitors were invited to deal with stories and visions for a future that are geared towards commonality and diversity. “We wanted to show how powerful diversity can be when people of various backgrounds work together on the future,” says Christian Zeilinger, strategy expert and initiative.
For months, inspiring personalities from all over Austria were asked in front of the camera. As different as they are, the desire for an open, solidarity society beyond origin, age, gender or skin color.
In this way, Zeilinger and his team managed to win Ina Regen, Viktor Gernot, Erwin Steinhauer, FC Blau Weiß Linz, Daniel Landau, student of the Wilhering Stiftygymnasium or Daniel Gawlowski.
