Pope Leo XIV defended marriage between men and women
“Marriage is not an ideal, but the model of true love between men and women: total, faithful and fruitful love. This love, by making them one flesh, enables them to give life, in the image of God”said Francisco’s successor in Rome.

During his homily, before 45,000 people, the Supreme Pontiff stated: “Brothers, if we love each other like that, on the foundation of Christ, we will be a sign of peace for all, in society and in the world. We must not forget it: the future of the peoples is born from the sinus of families”.
Then he put as examples some marriages canonized by the Catholic Church, such as the parents of Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús, Luis and Celia Martín or the Poles Martyrs Ulma, killed for having protected Jews in World War II.
“Having the saints as exemplary witnesses, the Church tells us that today’s world needs the conjugal alliance to know and welcome the love of God and to overcome, with their unifying and reconciling strength, the forces that disintegrate relations and societies,” he said.
In the same sense, he assured that families work in the future of peoples by asking marriages to be “coherence and love that educates in freedom.” “We have all received life before wanting it. Especially the little ones need others to live, because no one can do it alone,” he added.
