The White House said there were no plans for Biden’s visit to Ukraine

US President Joe Biden has no plans to visit Ukraine in his work schedule. This was announced on Monday, February 14, by the official representative of the White House, Karine Jean-Pierre, commenting on the invitation of the Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky to the head of the American administration to pay a visit to Kiev.

“There are currently no travel plans that I can announce or that I can pre-announce. And, of course, there is no confirmation of a visit to Ukraine,” she said.

A day earlier, CNN, citing a source in the Ukrainian government, reported that Zelensky, in a telephone conversation with Joe Biden, invited him to visit Ukraine as soon as possible.

Also during the conversation, the Ukrainian leader asked his American counterpart to provide additional financial and military assistance, since powerful economic support will show Russia “support for Ukraine by the West.”

Also, special attention was paid to de-escalation measures and the achievement of peace within all available negotiating formats. In addition, the heads of state discussed sanctions against Russia.

Biden assured his Ukrainian counterpart that the United States remains committed to Ukraine’s sovereignty, the US administration said.

The telephone conversation between the leaders of the United States and Ukraine took place on February 13 and lasted about an hour.

The United States and a number of European countries have recently expressed concern over the alleged increase in Russia’s “aggressive actions” against Ukraine. Moscow has repeatedly denied such accusations, saying that it does not threaten anyone. Such statements are used as a pretext to place as much NATO military equipment as possible near the borders of the Russian Federation, they say in Russia.
