The plastic recycling industry also present the global economic and geopolitical uncertainties. This is also noticeable by the Ansfeld recycling machine builder Erema: The company’s turnover decreased by 13 percent in the past financial year (at the end of March) to EUR 330 million, as announced on Wednesday. Erema is strongly export -oriented, the individual regions developed differently: While the European market developed, the group of companies in North America and Asia according to their own information. Erema is represented with his products in 110 countries, the export quota is more than 90 percent.

The company from Ansfelden with 920 employees specializes in the construction of systems for plastic recycling: these prepare PET bottles and other plastic waste and bring it into the desired shape. 26 million tons of plastic are recycled annually on the systems. Two years ago, Erema founded a joint venture with the Carinthian company Lindner: Lindner specializes in the construction of systems that shred and clean the plastic waste. The technologies and solutions of Erema cover the entire value chain of the mechanical plastic recycling. For the future, managing director Manfred Hackl is confident that the potential is great despite the current challenges: “More and more high -quality products consist of regranulates. The plastic industry has recognized that the recycling shares must continue to increase in order to achieve the goal of the circular economy.” The portfolio is regularly developed: In the previous year, the first large facilities for chemical recycling were put into operation. Fiber and textile recycling would also develop promising: This year a first reference system should go into operation.
