Overshadowed by the announced austerity course of the ÖBB near regional trains, the plans for the stops of the Linz regional town railway were presented on both sides of the new railway bridge. As is well known, the centerpiece is to lead from the main train station to the Mühlkreis station and east to the Johannes Kepler University (JKU).

Governor Thomas Stelzer (VP) sees it a new “main artery of public transport”, the implementation of which.
Local transport node Urfahr-Ost
The central changeover position becomes the “local transport node Urfahr-Ost” on the corner of Ferihumerstrasse and Linke Brückenstraße. Not only the light rail, but also tram lines 1 and 2 as well as the buses of the Linz lines and the regional buses are to be integrated here – the light railway above ground, buses and trams are to be one floor lower. For the State Council of Infrastructure Günther Steinkellner (FP), the local transport node is not only a “further milestone of our Regio-Stadtbahn” but also has the potential to become a symbol of the city of Linz.
Airy design of the stops
The design of the hub and stops comes from the Linz architecture firm Archinauten ZT, who unanimously won the Europe -wide competition. The design provides for a pavilion -like architecture with slim supports and floating roofs. With their blue patterns, the roof underside at eight meters are a reference to the Mühlviertel blue pressure, a traditional craft and intangible UNESCO cultural heritage. The permeable and transparent design creates a bright and friendly atmosphere with good orientation for the passengers.
