The battery manufacturer Banner, based in Leonding (Linz-Land district), has increased its turnover 2024/25 (until March 31) to 312 (previous period 302) million euros. Paragraph was increased by 200,000 to 4.2 million units (+200,000). The export share is consistently 95 percent, the company reported in a press release on Wednesday. Werner Töpfl has been leading the team of 760 employees across Europe since April.
Töpfl is the first external CEO to take over the operational management. He follows the decades of management by Andreas and Thomas Bawart. “Our vision is clear: Banner should be perceived as the leading provider of energy storage solutions from Austria – innovative, profitable and sustainable,” said Töpfl.
Demand in the replacement business increases
Banner produces starter and on-board network batteries for lead-acid-based cars in Leonding. Desirable production numbers for new vehicles lead to a slight decline in demand, but demand in the replacement business increases because older vehicles require new batteries more often. Over 90 percent of all electric cars are currently equipped with a 12-V board network battery based on lead-acid technology.
