Basurin admitted the possibility of an attack by Ukraine on the republics of Donbass

The Ukrainian side may not fulfill its obligations dictated by the Minsk agreements and attack the Donbass. This was announced on February 15 to Izvestia by the deputy head of the People’s Militia Department of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Eduard Basurin.

In his opinion, with a high degree of probability, Kiev will go ahead and will not solve the problem peacefully.

“Currently, there is an accumulation of equipment on the line of contact. New units are arriving and the groupings of Ukrainian troops are being strengthened,” said Eduard Basurin.

On February 14, it was already reported that Kiev had deployed medium and long-range air defense systems to the borders of the LPR, DPR and Belarus. Up to two divisions of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system were deployed in the Donbas region, and units of the Buk-M1 complexes were deployed near the Russian-Belarusian border.

On February 11, the head of the British Ministry of Defense, after a meeting with Sergei Shoigu, noted the importance of compliance by the parties with the Minsk agreements, since the outbreak of an armed conflict would have negative consequences for all its participants. This will directly affect European security.

Since 2014, the Kiev authorities have been conducting a military operation against the inhabitants of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup d’état and the new government in Ukraine. At the same time, Kiev blames Moscow for the current situation. Russia has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the intra-Ukrainian conflict. The issues of its settlement are being discussed in the Minsk and Normandy formats.
