Architecture criticism: poetry of the inconspicuous

Change of materials and contrasts determine the atmosphere.

Staged material and surface differences

Karl Friedrich Schinkel saw in the turn to poetic in architecture the most tried and tested means “to prevent something dry, rigid, which is absent from freedom” when building. With all of this, it is difficult to define the poetic in building. Schinkel was like that. Architectural poetry usually arises from the art of reluctance and the absence of formal extroverseness. It is more about the ratio of the space to its areas, a finely exciting use of the materials and surfaces. Ultimately about the effect of light. But instead of “philosophizing” for a long time, it is more obvious to take a closer look at a successful example.

Only a storm that endangers the building fabric in 2020 and the promotion as an EU leader project to strengthen rural areas offered the decisive impulses, planning and implementation. The Linz office TP3 (Andreas Henter, Markus Rabengruber), which is closely linked to Reichenau’s cultural life, was commissioned.
