The foreign ministers of the G7 countries are scheduled to hold an emergency meeting in Germany this week. This was reported on February 16 by the Kyodo News agency.
It is assumed that the meeting of the G7 foreign ministers will be held on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. According to government sources of the agency, the topic of the meeting should be the situation around Ukraine.
The G7 includes the UK, Germany, Italy, Canada, France, Japan and the US.
The Munich Security Conference, which will be held February 18-20, will be attended by approximately 35 heads of state and government. The United States is expected to be represented by Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, while the German delegation will be led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz. It is also planned to participate in the conference of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Russian officials will not participate in the conference.
Western politicians and media representatives continue to spread numerous speculations about possible Russian aggression against Ukraine. So, on February 15, the British tabloids The Sun and the Daily Mirror, referring to US intelligence data, reported that the “invasion” was scheduled for three in the morning on February 16 local time. When that time came, The Sun edited its article, noting that “the cold clear sky over Kiev, where people were preparing for an air raid, remained silent.”
The Russian side has repeatedly stressed that it has no plans to attack the neighboring country.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said earlier that it was time for the British authorities to apologize for reports from them about the alleged Russian invasion of Ukraine.
