Two weeks before the Tour de France begins the bike highlight of the year, Felix Gall is in top form: yesterday the 32-year-old went to second place in the final mountain time trial of the Swiss tour, beaten by Joao Almeida: the Portuguese grabbed Kevin Vauqelin (FRA) on the last few meters. And Gall improved to fourth place in the overall classification-an exclamation mark of the decathlon professional, which is great to trust with this form at the Tour de France. Two years ago, he had driven his victory at the royal stage into the international spotlight.
Gall had already shown himself in Switzerland on Saturday when he was torn out alone in the final of the penultimate stage and could only be set shortly before the finish. “It is the best race so far this season. I had a really good training camp and have a lot of confidence here,” said the stages. Felix Großschartner also presented himself strongly: Marchtrenker, who was driving for his teammate Almeida, landed in 19th place during yesterday’s mountain time trial with 2:43 minutes, the total number meant eleven.
Zoidl is a mountain master
While it continues for Gall in France, Großschartner starts for the fifth time on the Austria tour starting on July 9-with great ambitions. “I want to fight for the overall victory and get a stage victory,” says the Marchtrenker, who would like to cheer in front of his friends and relatives. “I really want to show something at the start in Steyr,” says the 31-year-old.
