Wall Street closes the week in green despite the lack of official data in the US

After this Thursday’s decline, the main indexes of Wall Street operate with an upward trend on Friday and close a week in green in most cases. Given the lack of official data for the “shutdown” of the US government, investors rely on sectoral and private surveys.

In this sense, a series of data collected by the University of Michigan that boosted good spirits in the sector, such as the increase in consumer confidence, which rose to 55 points, above expectations.

Wall Street remains green

In this context, the index that groups the most important companies in the new york stock exchange he S&P 500 rises 0.30% and closes the week with an increase of 0.43%.

Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite, dedicated to the technology sector, increases 0.33%. For its part, the industrial index Dow Jones moves 0.28% up.

The stocks with the highest volatility are Warner Bros Discovery (+4.4%), Dollar Tree (+3.6%) and Pepsi Co (+3.2%). On the opposite side, only a couple of companies are trading in the red, including mosaic (-7.5%) and NetApp (-3.9%).

Looking ahead to the last part of the year, the main Wall Street indices point to 2025 with widespread increases and at their all-time highs. The Nasdaq rises 27%, the S&P 500 follows with +17% and the Dow Jones follows with +10%.

Stock markets in the rest of the world

In Europe, the Euro Stoxx It drops 0.13% and is a little away from the historical maximum it recorded. At the local level, the corrections are widespread: the German DAX falls 0.22% and the French CAC accompanies with -0.29%. Outside the eurozone, the UK FTSE drops just 0.09%.

In Asia, the Shanghai stock market fell 0.94% in China, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng plummeted 1.71% and the Japanese Nikkei fell 1.01%.
