This is how a better cooling method comes to light: mining with liquid immersion cooling, which, being more efficient as a thermal conductor, achieves, among other benefits, increased profitability and power of machines with safer temperatures. Said technology -in which the cooling medium is liquid instead of air- consists of immersing the miners (the coolers are previously removed) in a dielectric fluid (it does not conduct electricity).
“Mining with conventional cooling is not a smart solution. Manufacturers combine expensive and very powerful electronics, with cooling that uses unsafe, mechanical and cheap parts such as coolers, which cause a loud noise due to operating at maximum speed, leaving factory mining power limited, due to the risk of overheating and damaging the most valuable components”explained Facundo CasalCEO of South American Minera (SAM), the first Start Up to implement this system within Latin America.
“For this reason, a new solution is being sought,” Casal added, continuing: “In this case, liquid immersion cooling is 115 times more efficient, in turn canceling out all sorts of noise and keeping the ASICs nice, clean and generally safer. modifies the refrigeration, the same equipment that delivers 100 by air, as an example, in our system it goes up to 160”.
While in the traditional format a simple insect or harmless dirt can overheat the chips and severely damage them, causing them to suddenly turn off or worse, catch fire, the new technology with liquid immersion cooling allows to maintain a low temperature, thanks to which it is possible to mine at higher power without the equipment being at risk, nor needing constant care or monitoring. It also has more security levels that protect miners.

This technique, which can be used both on a large scale and in homes, draws attention in countries where the cost of electricity is high or the climate is hot, since electricity can represent approximately up to 80% of the operating cost of a miner. , and with this technique we can reduce our electricity rate by a large percentage. At the same time, the environment stops conditioning the mining, regardless of the high temperatures, the system remains isolated with a constant low temperature.
“Such a proposal is increasingly resonating with the emerging industry. Its ability to implement it both on large scales and for personal use, as well as its ability to operate with greater power and without the risk of overheating, makes it an extremely attractive option and one that is getting stronger and stronger”, concluded Casal de SAM .
