Dollar: Argentines bought US.196 million in the official market

The numbers are known while the economic team seeks to put in place mechanisms to stop the outflow of foreign currency by the Argentines who will travel to Qatar to see the 2022 World Cup.

In the balance of the first eight months of the year, the Central reports liquidations of exports for a total of US$59,108 million and payment of imports for US$48,119 million with a surplus of US$10,989 million.

According to official data, The energy sector has already demanded a total of US$10.46 billion this year, which represents 17.7% of the total foreign exchange generated by exporters.

From them, US$6.94 billion correspond to oil imports (fuel oil for generation plants), US$3,391 million, in electricity and US$129, in gas. The second largest demander of dollars in the economy is the chemical sector, that so far in 2022 made payments abroad for US$6,901 million.

On the other hand, the automotive complex is the third applicant with US$6,636 million, which includes finished cars and components. This industrial complex entered dollars for exports, so far this year for US$5,303 million, which marks a deficit sectoral balance.

On the other hand, in machinery and equipment, companies have imported US$4,136 million this year, while the oilseed complex did the same for US$3,335 million.

Faced with this, the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, is about to announce an improvement in the Comprehensive Import Monitoring System (SIMI), with which it is expected that importers will have a certain date in which they will be able to buy dollars to send to their suppliers abroad.

The companies have complained in recent months that despite having the documentation approved, the banks deny them the sale of foreign currency, arguing that they exceed the limits established by the Central Bank for 2022.
