Apple said in a statement that the music price increase “is due to rising licensing costs and that artists and songwriters will now make more money.”

The company said that Apple TV+, meanwhile, was introduced “at a very low price because we start with just a few shows and movies”. The service now “offers a wide selection of award-winning and widely acclaimed series, feature films, documentaries and entertainment for kids and families from the world’s most creative storytellers,” Apple said.
