The S&P Merval climbs for the third day in a row and dollar bonds earn up to 6%

The S&P Merval index of Buenos Aires gains 1%, to 151,990 units then advance 3.8% on Friday and close the week with an improvement of 0.6%.

Among the shares that rose the most, those of Cresud (+2.9%) stand out; Transener (+2%) and Transportadora de Gas del Sur (+1.6%). The losses are led by Ternium (-0.9%); Pampa Energía (-0.4%) and Loma Negra (-0.3%).

“Investors only make short-term tactical bets on well-liquid stocks as economic doubts in the latter part of the year weigh on decision-making,” a stock trader said.

Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said on Sunday that markets should now pay attention to the “endpoint” of rate hikes, not the pace of each move, and that the endpoint is likely “a long way off.”

On the other hand, the shares of Argentine companies listed on Wall Street gain up to 5.9% in the hands of IRSA. Behind them are the shares of Transportadora De Gas del Sur (+5.6%) and those of Globant (+5.3%).

Bonds and country risk

In the fixed income market, bonds in dollars operate with the majority of increases. These are led by Global 2038 (+5.9%) and Global 2029 (+4.8%). Meanwhile, the country risk measured by the JP Morgan bank falls 2.2% or 55 units to 2,481 points.

The BCRA board would keep its reference rate unchanged in Novemberthe same as the previous month, despite the inflationary pressure and the fall in its reserves, said a source with knowledge of the matter on Friday.
