The dairy industry goes on strike and there could be difficulties with the supply

Until now, this trust has never been established and, consequently, the Association of Workers of the Dairy Industry of the Argentine Republic (Atilra), announced a measure of force will be for 72 hours in the cooperative and for 48 hours in the rest of the companies of the activity.

The union asked the workers in the sector to “stay alert and mobilize pending all the information” disseminated by the union.

In 2021, a group of businessmen including José Urtubey (Celulosa Argentina) and Marcelo Figueiras (Richmond Laboratory) presented a proposal for a trust. This mechanism contemplates financing for US$60 million and the goal is for the firm to double the number of liters it produces per day, to reach 1.5 million.

As the trust is still in the pipeline, Atilra explained that the strike at SanCor will extend “from 00:00 on Tuesday, November 29 to 24:00 on Thursday, December 1.”

Simultaneously to this measure, there will be “a total 48-hour strike in the rest of the country’s dairy companies, extending from 00:00 on November 30 to 24:00 on Thursday, December 1.”

In the dairy industry, they estimate that due to the extension of the measure of force, there could be difficulties with the supply of dairy products during the next weekend.
