Wong, an expert security researcher, said she had extracted the code from a vector image representing a “Twitter Coin.” She shared it all in a Twitter post that was later deleted. Wong also shared an image of a “Coin” section within the “Tips” function of the same social network.
In dialogue with The Block, Wong said that the code was extracted from one of the latest versions of the web application and that the appearance of Twitter Coin may be related to an integrated crypto tipping function in which, apparently, they are working on the net.
“Obviously it hasn’t been implemented yet and there is little information about what exactly it is.” Wong said, adding that what needs to be seen is if they are now actively working on the project, I did abandon the idea, but part of the initiative remained in the code.
In parallel, Musk reiterated his interest in crypto payments in a Twitter Spaces carried out before an audience of more than two million listeners. “It’s kind of a no-brainer that Twitter has payments, both fiat and crypto,” Musk said.
This is not new, the Tesla co-founder has been talking about integrating cryptocurrencies into Twitter for years, even long before expressing interest in buying the social network.
