Twitter Blue is relaunched this Monday: how much it will cost and why it will be more expensive on iPhone

Why is iPhone charged more?

One month after the suspension of twitter blue, the new profile verification system, the social network announced the prices and conditions of the service with which it intends to generate more income for the company. The social network relaunched the subscription this Monday and bad news was confirmed for Apple users: for them, the cost will be US$11 compared to US$8 for users who use the web and Android.

The extra cost in iOS is due to the 30% commission that Apple takes from purchases in the App Store. Elon Musk denounced alleged threats from Tim Cook’s company regarding the removal of Twitter from the App Store, but after a meeting with the President of Apple the difficulty was resolved. However, Musk insists on the additional 30%.

What changes will Twitter Blue have?

The most relevant change, in addition to the price, has to do with verification. According to the company itself, there will be a review to confirm that a subscriber has a valid phone number, and then a double check will be carried out with human interventionto avoid impersonations.

“We’ve Add a review step before applying a blue check mark to an account as one of our new steps to combat phishing (which is against the Twitter Guidelines),” said Twitter Product Manager Esther Crawford.

Other benefits

In addition to the blue verification check, Twitter Blue users will have the ability to edit their tweets, one of the most demanded functions in recent years by users of the social network. Of course, they will only have a window of 30 minutes from the publication of the tweet.

Among the other advantages of the subscription are also the possibility of upload videos to 1080p and a reader mode to make it easier to read long threads. What is most striking is that any change to a subscriber’s Twitter account will require a new verification process, even a slight change to the account name or profile picture.

“Subscribers will be able to change their username, display name, or profile photo, but if they do so will temporarily lose the blue checkmark until your account is reviewed again“explains the official Twitter account.

Also starting next week, Twitter will implement other changes that Musk has been announcing on his account since he entered the company’s offices with a sink. Among them, the “official” label that the old verified ones now wear will be replaced by color checks: gold for companies and gray for government accounts.

At the moment, other functions among those promised by Elon for its subscribers are not included in this new update. For example, the greater reach and visibility of the tweets and the responses of the verified accounts or the possibility of seeing half the ads.
