When a user asks if it is “true that Twitter is about to increase the number of characters from 280 to 4000”. Musk responded “yes.”

The billionaire has expressed similar plans before. In late November, he said that expanding the character limit to 1,000 was on his “to do” list. Around the same time, he described a user request to set the threshold to 420 as “a good idea.”

The brevity of Twitter posts is considered one of the hallmarks of the platform, with heated discussions among social media users over whether to change it.

The Musk era: the modifications that are coming on Twitter

The social network announced that it will launch this Monday a new subscription system that includes a verification system that includes the well-known blue badge, after several postponements by Elon Musk, owner of the company since October.

“On Monday we’re relaunching ‘Twitter Blue.’ including the blue badge,” the social network said in a series of messages.

Thus, it has detailed that this insignia will be replaced by a gold one for companies, while a gray one will be added later for “governmental and multilateral” organizations. The blue badge will be awarded to subscribers “once the account has been reviewed.”

Subscribers will also be able to edit their tweets, post higher quality videos, a reading mode and change their name on Twitter and show their name or profile picture, although he has qualified that “if they do so, they will temporarily lose the blue badge until they your account will be reviewed again.”

“Thank you for your patience while we have been working to improve Twitter. We are excited and look forward to providing more information soon,” Twitter has riveted. Musk announced in November his decision to postpone the platform’s payment verification program until November 29 until he can ensure it “is rock solid,” though the deadlines have been extended.

Musk’s decision came after several days in which users of the social network who had chosen to pay $ 7.99 a month had indicated that they could not access the functions of ‘Twitter Blue’.

The new payment model proposed by the billionaire would have been suspended after allowing countless users to acquire verification to impersonate entities of recognized prestige, damaging the reputation of companies or public figures.
