In turn, the most salient returns of Argentine companies in 2022 were recorded by Vista Energy (+193.8%); Transportadora Gas del Sur (+165.8%); YPF (+140.5%); Central Port (+88.2%); Tenaris (+67%); Pampa Energía (+51%); and Edenor (-50.9%).
Bonds and country risk
In fixed income, debt in dollars closed with general increases in the local stock market, and falls in New York. Throughout December, public bonds registered increases of up to 15.2% in the local market, and more moderate increases of around 2% on average in the US. Thus, in 2022, these instruments recorded a decline of up to 28%.
For his part, the Argentine country risk rose 1.6% during the day to 2,196 units. In December it lost 2.3%, while in 2022 it climbed 30.1%.
The complexity of the Argentine economy led the country risk to climb to almost the record of 3,000 points at the end of July, prior to the assumption of Sergio Massa as head of the Ministry of Economy.
Meanwhile, the Treasury surprised investors with the call for a debt swap in pesos with the start of 2023 with the objective of clearing the way in the next first quarter. It is an exchange of eight titles for two baskets made up of either ‘Ledes’ letters or ‘Dual’ bonds.
