In October of last year, it was determined that the tax included the purchase of banknotes and currency in foreign currency carried out by residents in the country for the payment of obligations for the importation of merchandise included in the tariff positions of the Common Nomenclature of the Mercosur (NCM).
These positions corresponded to luxury goods concentrated in users with high purchasing power and who demand the acquisition of foreign currency for issues unrelated to any national productive chain, as well as vehicles that, due to their configuration, are not designed for any use other than the transport of goods.
However, the Government now determined to “suspend the aforementioned tax for those vehicles included in the aforementioned tariff items, as long as they are pick-up trucks, vans, vans or rigid trucks, designed for a maximum of three passengers, on the same line, including the driver, regardless of its value”.
