Journalist: What is AlPrestamo about?

Santiago Rivero: What we do is unite the needs among people who are on the Internet looking for a financial product, which can be anything from a loan to a card or an account, and we connect them with the entities that want to offer it.

In this connection to those users who enter our platform, we pre-qualify them for their behavior. We also know a lot about the financial variables that they may have because we connect them with the bureaus of each country and in this profile we show you the different offers that you have pre-approved so that you can continue your search and purchase the product.

Q:. How long has the company been in existence and what expansion does it currently have?

MR: Five years ago we started in Argentina, we quickly expanded to Uruguay and one year and four months ago we are in Mexico. We also launched Colombia in September of last year. With these four countries we are quite consolidated and we plan to launch in four more countries. The first of these is Peru in April.

We detected a very important user need, which is to try to find all the products you are looking for in one place, and at the same time we have a very high and long expertise in what is pattern purchase, acquisition.

Along with the boom in Argentina in 2017/18 of companies wanting to start acquiring users on a digital level is where we began to develop technology internally and this product. We had a very fast growth that with the pandemic accelerated a lot. The traffic of requests that we had multiplied by 10. People had more time, more needs and fewer opportunities to go out on a physical level, so the digital part developed very quickly in financial institutions.

Q:. What opportunities do you see for development in Latin America and what difficulties could the company have, taking into account some variables such as the economy?

MR: Our opportunity in Latin America is very high due to the low level of banking that exists. Today there are many users who are looking for a financial product and for certain reasons they do not end up finding it. The entities do not know how to approach them and with what product. That is why we see an opportunity throughout Latin America. What is the job? the technological progress of each country. Although we have some models with which we work with each of the entities, it is a much longer job.

Q:. What is the importance of attending an event like Finnosummit?

MR: Last year I was in almost all the events in Latin America and the Finnosummit is the one that could best concentrate the different roles in each one of the events. From what I’ve been seeing and the people I’ve been chatting with are big decision makers, leaders of the company at the regional level and since we are a regional company it helps to start closing those agreements. It is about generating relationships to find a solution for banking in Latin America.

Q:. What is your opinion of fintech development in Argentina compared to the rest of Latin America?

MR: I come across people who tell me all the time it’s incredible how you develop technology. In what has to do with the fintech world, we are a power in the development of services. Unfortunately, Argentina’s macroeconomics is not with us, but as an Argentine and living there we are waiting for everything to settle so that all that knowledge that is reflected in development and that is exported today can be used in the country.
