BOPREAL: the BCRA placed almost US.2 billion in the second tender of Series 2

The BCRA received 480 offers, which were awarded in their entirety for US$1,170 million. In effect, the accumulated amount of Series 2 amounted to US$1,440 million.

The Central Bank (BCRA) managed to place this Thursday almost US$1.2 billion in the second auction of Series 2 of the Bonds for the Reconstruction of a Free Argentina (BOPREAL). The BCRA received 480 offers, which were awarded in their entirety for US$1,170 million. Indeed, The accumulated amount of Series 2 amounted to US$1,440 million.

Series 2 will continue to be offered in weekly tenders until the maximum amount of US$2,000 million is covered. In the event that the demand for Series 2 in any tender exceeds what remains until reaching the maximum issuance amount, the award mechanism will give priority allocation to the first US$500,000 defendants per company in said tender, to then distribute the remainder pro rata of the amount demanded, the monetary authority said in a statement.

Auctions are open to all those importers who have balances pending cancellation of their debt registered in the Register of Commercial Debts for Imports with Foreign Suppliers (EL PADRÓN), carried out jointly with the Ministry of Commerce and the Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP).

Once the registry was finalized and analyzed, the BCRA decided to allow about 10,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), with registered debts of up to US$500,000, access the Free Exchange Market (MLC), in a phased manner, to pay off all of their liabilities within three months, without the need to subscribe to the BOPREAL. During the first day of this facility, some 105 MSMEs made import debt payments for a total of US$4 million.

The monetary entity reminded those potentially interested in participating in the Series 2 tenders that, in response to the request of interested companies regarding the possibility of selling in advance the titles obtained in the primary tender, The BCRA decided that it be authorized to be listed on stock exchanges and markets, like Series 1 and 3.
