Within the framework of Law No. 25,246, cited in Decree 147/2024 and published this Friday in the Official bulletin, and which establishes the creation of the Financial Information Unit (UIF) and details the procedure for the designation of its authorities, thus designating Ignacio Martín Yacuzzi in charge of the Presidency of the key organization against financial illicit and Manuel Facundo Tessio in Vice Presidency.

According to the official text, in this way a transparent and participatory process was completed to appoint the new leaders of this organization, vital in the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism.


The process began with the resignation of the previous President of the UIF and the resignation of the outgoing Vice President. Given these vacancies, The Ministry of Justice proposed Ignacio Martín Yacuzzi as a candidate for the Presidency and Manuel Facundo Tessio as a candidate for the Vice Presidency of the UIF.
To ensure citizen participation in this momentous process, a public hearing was held, in accordance with current regulations. During this instance, citizens had the opportunity to express their opinions and observations regarding the proposed candidates. “The Ministry of Justice, as part of the commitment to transparency and openness, carefully evaluated the observations received,” he adds.
Finally, the President of the Nation, Javier Milei, signed the decree making the designation of Jacuzzi as President and Tessio as Vice President of the UIF.
It should be remembered that the FIU has the crucial responsibility of preventing and impeding money laundering and the financing of terrorism, “functions it performs strategically to maintain the integrity of the financial system and protect national security.”
