In September, domestic workers will see a new salary increase in response to the recent collective bargaining agreement. The continuation of negotiations for next month seeks to ensure constant monitoring to adjust salaries according to the needs of the sector.

In September 2024, the domestic service workers They will receive a 4% salary increase, applicable to the August salary, as established in the most recent collective bargaining agreement, in line with price dynamics.

This adjustment is part of a broader agreement that included an 8.5% increase in July, making the August increase cumulative. The National Commission for Domestic Work and the Union of Personal Auxiliary Workers of Private Homes (Upacp), the union that represents the sector, were in charge of negotiating these updates.

Although the agreement had some delays, the Upacp has already published on its official website the new salary values ​​for each category and type of work. These figures reflect the direct impact on the salary of general tasks personnel, the fifth category, which includes domestic workers in charge of cleaning, washing, ironing, maintenance, and food preparation.

With the intention of continuing to adjust wages accordingly and to align them with inflation and other economic variables, the parties have scheduled a new meeting for September 18, with the aim of reviewing the collective bargaining agreements and considering possible additional adjustments.

Hourly wages for domestic workers in September

For those who perform general tasks in private homes and are hired by the hour or by the day, the amounts to be charged in September are as follows:

  • Per hour with withdrawal: $2620
  • Per hour without withdrawal: $2825
  • These values ​​apply to those who work less than 24 hours a week with the same employer.

  • In September, female workers who operate under a monthly scheme will receive the following amounts for their work in August:
  • Monthly with withdrawal: $321,361
  • Monthly without withdrawal: $357,350

These figures refer to workers who comply with the Regime established by Law No. 26,844 and work 24 or more hours per week for the same employer. The amounts are proportional to the number of hours actually worked and exclude additional concepts such as seniority, retirement contributions, and social security, which are the responsibility of the employer.

How to register domestic workers with the AFIP

Before formalizing the employment relationship and registering with the AFIP, the employer must have the following information about the worker:

  • First and last name
  • Birthdate
  • Actual address
  • Health insurance (if you do not have one, the Health Insurance for Private Household Staff will be automatically assigned)
  • Retirement status
  • CBU (if you are banked)
  • Phone number
  • Email

Registration can be cancelled until 23:59 on the day of registration. In the event that the procedure needs to be cancelled later, the procedure must be carried out in person at any AFIP office.
