PAMI: Which medications are 100% free for retirees in October 2024?

The agency explained which medicines will continue to be free and which will no longer be covered next month.

PAMI is the Argentine organization created to provide medical care and health services to retired and pensioned people, as well as those who receive a social security benefit. Unfortunately, in recent months they have made a large cut in their list of medicines.

For the month of October it is known that they will continue to have a full coverage medications that are needed for a long time, such as the following:

  • Chronic treatments for prevalent diseases
  • Diabetes (Insulins, Hypoglycemics and test strips)
  • Oncology and special treatments (Oncology, Oncohematology, Hemophilia, Hepatitis B and C, Antiretrovirals and Medicines for transplants)

  • Calcium carbonate
  • Calcium citrate
  • Ceftriaxone
  • Cefuroxime
  • Cilostazol
  • Ciprofloxacin
  • Clarithromycin
  • Clindamycin
  • Clobetasol
  • Dexamethasone
  • Iron polymaltosate
  • Ivermectin
  • Levomepromazine
  • Liothyronine
  • Mebendazole
  • Meprednisone
  • Methadone
  • Metoclopramide
  • Methotrexate
  • Metronidazole
  • Minocycline
  • Morphine
  • Neomycin
  • Nystatin
  • Oxybutynin
  • Prednisone
  • Pregabalin
  • Promestriene
  • Psyllium
  • Sulfamethoxazole + trimethoprim

However, there is a way for retirees and pensioners to get all the necessary medicines with 100% coverage.

How to request an exception and get free medicines

To be able to request an exception and have the possibility of accessing all medications free of charge, the following requirements must be met:

  • Retirees with net income less than 1.5 times the minimum pension payment.
  • In the case of households with cohabitants who have a Single Disability Certificate, the total income must be less than 3 salaries.
  • Not being associated with a prepaid medical system.
  • In the case of having prepaid medicine, the retiree may request an exception if the medicine costs 15% of his or her income.
  • Not owning more than one property.
  • Not having luxury aircraft or boats.
  • Do not have a vehicle less than 15 years old.
  • Not having corporate assets that demonstrate economic capacity.
