AFIP: they make it easier to obtain tax residency with a new web service

The body led by Florence Misrahi provides for automated issuance through the service “Application for a Certificate of Tax Residence” from the web.

If you pass the controls, which include the AFIP databases and the National Immigration Directorate, Applicants will receive their certificate in digital format within 72 business hours of receiving the order.

For particular cases, they will automatically be evaluated by the department that controls tax obligations, establishing the corresponding deadlines and conditions to resolve said requests, since they require a specific analysis for each situation.

AFIP: how to apply for the Certificate of Tax Residence

Step 1: Check prerequisites

– Tax code with security level 3

– Have an Electronic Tax Address

Step 2: Access the AFIP website and log in with your tax code

Step 3: Enter the “Tax Residence Certificate Request” service.

-If you operate on behalf of a third party, add the service from the “Tax Key Relationship Manager” option.

Step 4: Submit request

– Select the “New Request” option.

– Complete the following fields:

– Country to which the certificate will be presented.

– Tax period requested (if applicable).

– Reason for the certificate.

– Indicate particular situations (see **Step 6**).

Step 5: Attach documentation

– All data provided in the application are considered sworn statements.

Step 6: Identify particular cases. These cases include:

– Temporary absences from the country without the intention of permanent residence abroad.

– Official representatives of the Argentine State abroad.

– People with dual tax residency.

– International carriers.

– People who have lost tax residency as of December 31, 2023.

Step 7: System Confirmation and Checks

– If the controls are satisfactory, the certificate will be issued and will be available within 72 business hours.

– In case of observations, the taxpayer will receive a communication at the electronic tax address.

Step 8: Download the certificate

– If the request is successful, the certificate will be available in digital format in the “Certificates Issued” option within the same service.

Other documentary requirements simplified by AFIP

In this context, recently the AFIP eliminated documentary requirements and achieved simplifications applied to the following procedures and productive sectors:

• Elimination of the obligation to register rental contracts before the agency. It is only valid for accessing tax benefits.
• Elimination of Real Estate Transfer Tax (ITI)
• Elimination of Certificate of Transfer of Motor Vehicles (CETA)the document that had to be issued when selling a vehicle
• Reduction from 5 to 2 of the sworn statements that rural establishments must submit with the results of the crop production.
• Elimination of the Argentine Republic Import System (SIRA) and the evaluation of the Economic and Financial Capacity (CEF), as previous steps to purchase merchandise from abroad.
• Elimination of the Register of Exporters of Charcoal (RECAR)
• Simplification of worker registration: through the “My AFIP” application, a worker can be registered by entering only 7 pieces of data.
• Elimination of the need to have the voucher called “Yerba mate route sheet” and the “Book of Movements and Stocks”, through which mills, dryers and/or warehouses will no longer have to register the income, expenses and stocks of said products.
• Automation of the calculation of the fixed amount corresponding to the Occupational Disease Trust Fund (FFEP).
• Repeal of the regulation that required grain operators to register in the Single Registry of Operators of the Agroindustrial Chain (RUCA)
